Transforming the people of the triangle and beyond...

Mark Harper

Pastor Mark Harper
Pastor of Education and Administration

Joined Salem Staff: March 2005

Areas of Ministry: Oversee Education Ministry (Bible Fellowship Groups, Discipleship, Missions) and Administrative Areas (Office Management, Facilities, Finances, Publications, etc.)

Family: My wife, Renae, and I have four children, Katie (married to Patrick and lives in Charlottesville, Va.), Marshall (married to Rachel and lives in Cheraw,SC), Jonathan (a student at NCSU), and Jordan (a student at Panther Creek HS)

Saved: I grew up in a Christian home where I was taught about the Christian life and about the gift of love God bestowed upon us when He sent His only Son to sacrifice His life for me. At a very early age I asked Christ to come into my heart and to forgive me of my sins. During my junior year of high school I realized my need to make Jesus Lord of my entire life. This dramatically changed the way I lived and the decisions I made. While in college I began serving on student ministry teams and sensed God leading me to this type of vocation. I love serving Him through His church.

Education: I earned a BA in Religion from Mars Hill College and a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Previous Lines of Work: While in high school I worked for Mackie Vending Company and during college I worked in the school cafeteria, language lab, and for a construction company as well as student pastor at several churches. Since Seminary I have served in Churches throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
