Preschool Parent Association (PPA)

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you are serving the Lord, not men. Ephesians 6:7.

The PPA's mission is to serve our Lord by serving each other. Its two major objectives are teacher appreciation and fundraising. First, our committee exists to show our preschool staff that we love and value the way they serve our children.  We do this by recognizing birthdays in a small, but meaningful way.  Appreciation events throughout the year also include:

  • Grateful Hearts Board - November
  • Show Your Teachers Some Love - February
  • Shower Your Teachers & Appreciation Lunch - April
  • End-of-Year Gifts - May

Our second goal is to raise money for the preschool we love.  Fundraising helps support teacher and classroom needs and/or manipulatives, playground equipment and/or maintenance, as well as additional curriculum resources that directly affect our school and children.  Fundraising events include:

  • Art By Me
  • Vendor Fair & Bake Sale
  • End-of-Year Ice Cream Party
  • Spirit Nights
  • Scholastic Book Fair
  • Dance--The Salem Snowball

Class Representatives

Each class needs at least two class representatives who coordinate/divide responsibilities among themselves.  Most importantly, the class representatives are the primary communicators between the PPA and parents.   Responsibilities include:

  • Attend monthly PPA meetings (Meetings are held once a month in the Fellowship Hall.  They last 15 to 30 minutes, and you are welcome to bring your children!)
  • Communicate upcoming events to the class parents
  • Assist with PPA events and activities as available
  • Coordinate with parents for teacher appreciation events
  • Assist in communicating with parents regarding important family events such as births, crisis, etc (We are a community here at Salem)

With wisdom, Winnie the Pooh said, "Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."  At Salem, those small things also make the MOST impact so please consider joining us.  If you are interested in serving as a PPA representative or have questions about PPA activities and events, feel free to contact Susan Villareal (susanvillareal@gmail.com) or Jenny Sabow (jsabow@gmail.com), PPA Co-Presidents.
