Equipped for a Changing World

The goal of Salem Student Ministry is to make student disciples of Christ who are fully devoted followers of Jesus by equipping them to daily depend on the grace of God, and declare the Gospel to the world around them. All students who are in grades 6-8 (middle school) or grades 9-12 (high school) are welcome to grow with us at Salem.

Wednesday Night Youth

Join us as we gather together for worship, teaching, games, and more!

Bible Fellowship Groups

Student BFGs meet upstairs in Building C and each week they dive deep into stories of scripture to see how it connects to the big story of the Bible—God’s plan to rescue His people through His Son, Jesus Christ.

  • Middle School Boys — Peter Thompson and Greg Owen
  • Middle School Girls — Kasey Cooper and Courtney Thompson
  • 9-10th Grade — Mark Pressley, Tim and Jenn McLain
  • 11-12th Grade — John and Nola Summerville, and Alyssa Powell

Meet Pastor Mike

Pastor of Student Ministries

Mike was born and raised here in Apex, NC. He has attended Salem since he was a sophomore in high school. After six years of volunteering with the youth, he joined the staff in 2017 is currently serving as the Pastor of Student Ministries. In October of 2017, Mike married his incredible wife, Kasey, who also grew up at Salem, and they have been in ministry together ever since.

Mike is passionate about seeing students fall in love with Jesus, teaching them how to live out the Gospel daily, and investing in the next generation. He graduated from the College at Southeastern in December 2019 with a Bachelors of Arts in Student Ministry. Mike loves people and enjoys making gospel connections with students whether over a cup of coffee, playing Minecraft, or any just sitting in the living room talking about life.
