FAQ

Is there student drop-off?

Our students are delivered to, and picked up, at the classroom door. We feel this procedure ensures us a safe, secure transition for the children. The classroom delivery policy also provides a time for you to review your child's day and talk to the teacher.

Do you allow parental participation?

Our Open Door Policy always welcomes student's parents. Please remember that your child needs to adjust to preschool and a new class in order to become independent. You may observe through the glass in the door at any time, and observe in the classroom at a time that will not be disturbing to the children. There will be opportunities throughout the year where parents can participate in classroom activities. We have a very active Preschool Parent Association that does fundraisers and teacher appreciation events. Evey classroom has one or two parent representatives.

What is your potty-training  policy?

All students enrolled in the three year old class must be completely potty trained. They must wear proper underwear and not pull ups. Repeated accidents will be cause for dismissal.

ESL (English as a second language)

An ESL student by definition, does not know English, has not been exposed to English and needs to learn English. Any current student presently enrolled in the 2009/2010 school year will automatically receive placement for next year without an interview. Please understand that our intentions are not to exclude non-English speaking children. We just want all of our children to be safe and to succeed. To accomplish this we feel they need to understand specific English words.

The interview process will take place in a classroom setting and be very informal. Parents can be present but can not speak during the interview process. We understand that some children may be shy and not want to speak. However they would probably not be comfortable with a new teacher either. The children will not have to speak, just show us that they understand. We will be sensitive to all children, especially  two year olds.
