Annual Events
The Senior High Student Ministry provides many opportunities for our students to grow closer to each other and to God. Please take some time to look over these events. Up to date info can be found on the student blog. In addition to these annual events there are many other smaller monthly events including game nights, formals, lock-ins, and concerts.Fall Retreat Our Fall Retreat is the kick off to our new ministry year and a great way for our students to get spiritually prepared for the new school year. Every year in September we travel as a group to a local camp and have a great time meeting new friends and getting to know old ones even better. This is a high energy weekend with tons of activities and most importantly, wonderful worship times. We have a guest speaker and praise band to lead us in worship. Winter Retreat The Winter Retreat is a really fun weekend of skiing and snowboarding. This is a great weekend for us to recharge our spiritual batteries. We have a devotion each morning and night together as a group.
D-Now Disciple Now weekend is one of our students and adults favorite events. It is an incredible weekend of spiritual growth for our students as individuals and as a group. Our students break up into groups based on grade level and gender. We have wonderful adult volunteers who host each group in their homes. We also have college aged volunteers who lead small discipleship groups during the weekend. We come together for corporate worship led by a guset speaker and praise band. The culmination of the weekend is the Sunday morning service that involves the whole church. A great weekend to bring friends and meet new people. VBA Vacation Bible Awesomeness, aka VBA, is our unofficial summer kick off. This is a week long nightly event led by both students and adults. The Senior class has the chance to lead small groups, games, and share testimonies. We have worship led by The Exiles Returned and a message by Justin every night. One of the highlights of the week are the nightly videos. Caswell Summer Camp Every summer we travel to the coast of North Carolina to Fort Caswell for bedotell youth week. This is the best week of the year. Students get to experience God working in our group in an amazing way. Caswell is packed with tons to do and led by the bedotell creative worship team and a great guest speaker who always challenges our students to be more like their Savior. There are always many decisions made in our group and our students lives are changed because of what God does this week. Sign ups begin in October and are closed January 1st. Mission Trip The mission trip is a great opportunity for our students to serve God in ways that they might not be as accustomed to during the year. We do all sorts of service projects depending on the trip that we go on. One day we could be putting a roof on a house and the next we could be playing Bible games in an inner city neighborhood. Previous places we have gone to include Atlanta, Roanoke, Savannah, Gulfport, Charleston and Philadelphia. This is always a great week for our students to be the hands and feet of Christ.
Foreign Mission Trip Every other year we take our Junior and Senior classes on an international mission trip. This is a life changing experience for most of the students that go on this trip. This trip provides a chance to see the world in a very different perspective. Past trips have included Ecuador, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Our next trip will be during the summer of 2011.
