“What You Can Expect”
Salem is a welcoming fellowship. The Triangle’s unique economy has brought people from all regions into our area. This diverse population has managed to find warmth and community here at Salem. We believe God has a plan for your life and we would love to be a part of that discovery with you! Here are a few things you may want to know on your first visit:
Classic Worship, Sunday, 8:30 AM
The classic service is a blend of traditional hymns and praise songs mostly accompanied by the classic sound of piano and organ. We also make use of a worship choir, and a variety of elements from our various handbell choirs, choirs and Youth Ministry and Worship teams. Salem has an incredible group of pianists and organists, (all volunteer) and they assist Pastor Olds in leading a beautiful and classic time of traditional worship at 8:30.
Contemporary Worship, Sunday, 11:00 AM
The Contemporary service utilizes mostly new and inspiring praise and worship songs accompanied by the "plugged in" sound of our Praise Band and led by our Praise Team members. We also enjoy utilizing our various Youth Ministry teams in this worship service, with an occasional classical element like handbells thrown in. This service is very plugged in, and Salem has been blessed with several amazing instrumentalists, so you should expect some volume, and emotion. We love to honor and praise the Lord!
How Should I Dress? You will see some people "dressed up," and you will see some dressed very casually, but mostly you will see people dressed in the same comfortable, tasteful, everyday style as if they were headed to school, work, the movies, or out to eat. You will see anything from jeans to the occasional suit. Your clothing isn't important to God; your willing and open heart is. Come dressed comfortably, but come ready to experience the presence of God!
Its a BIG Campus... How do I know where to go? Salem's 22-plus acre campus is one of Apex's largest non-commercial facilities, but there are quite a few building and campus signs and maps at each entrance so be on the lookout. Also it is very likely that you will be greeted multiple times when you enter. There is little we can do about this… we really like you. Along these lines, there are numerous greeting points, greeter and greeting desks on our campus. The people who staff these points are volunteers who are there to make your visit a good experience and to help you find where you wish to go. Do not hesitate to ask them questions, or for help or directions! The Main Greeter Desk is in the new Multi-purpose building to your right just as you enter the center doors.
